I engaged Marchant and sons to paint the hard to reach areas of the outside of my house. They weren't the cheapest quote, but I was impressed by the quality statements in their quote. The statements were completely untrue. I provided the paint. Two young men arrived and starting painting straight away - no preparation whatsoever. They slapped the paint on with no thought of filling, sanding or any other sort of preparation, despite the quotation saying they would scrape and sand all areas before painting. The cleaning consisted a quick wipe with a rag, wetted from a bottle. One rag and one bottle of water to do all of the areas. I had to repeatedly point out areas that had been missed. At the end they told me they would be finished in half an hour, despite one area not having received even its first coat. When I pointed out a piece of timber decoration that had not been painted they told me the wood was rotten. If I hadn't said anything they would just have left it. After they left, I found that they had emptied the remains of a paint pot into my drain, and left the paint film. They also left lots of dirt in one paint tin, and discarded their paint rollers into three other tins, so that I had to fish them out, creating mess, and losing paint in the process. An awful experience. I recommend you do not use them.
