Prime Lock and Key Absolutely outstanding service. I lost the only set of keys to my 2004 Land Rover Defender, which is never a simple job, and Prime Lock and Key were nothing short of amazing. From the first call, communication was clear, calm, and professional. He turned up when he said he would, explained the process properly, and got straight to work. What impressed me most was his knowledge and persistence. Older Defenders can be tricky, but he worked through the issue methodically, reprogrammed and cut new keys, and had the vehicle up and running again without any unnecessary drama. You could tell he genuinely knew his craft and cared about doing the job properly. Fair pricing, honest advice, and excellent workmanship. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Prime Lock and Key to anyone, especially if you’ve got an older or more complex vehicle. Lifesaver of a service.

Today, I had a super emergency problem in ignition box. So Dylan came to solve this problem. Actually, he solved the problem less than 30mins which is the quickest in Perth. He’s got professional knowledge, friendly and honourable. He actually make the price cheaper than any other locksmiths, and helped me to replace the key without any extra pay. I highly recommend this nice guy and for sure call again if I need locksmith in future. Thank you very much!!!

Contacted them at 4pm. They arrived at my door and had our locked car open by 630pm. He was a good bloke who did his job fast, efficiently, and well. Surprisingly good pricing for an after hours call that was attended to so quickly. Opened our car door and gave us a spare key that night. Highly recommended and so glad I called them

Frequently asked questions

How much do locksmiths typically charge?
Costs vary depending on the job — a simple key cut or rekey is usually much less than emergency entry or full hardware replacement. This page shows live pricing for local providers to help you compare options. Many locksmiths charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate and materials, and after-hours or emergency work generally attracts higher rates.
Do locksmiths charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. This fee is usually separate from labour and materials and may apply even for quick or small jobs. It's worth confirming any call-out or minimum charge when getting quotes.
Do locksmiths need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Locksmithing is a licensed occupation across Australia, and in NSW licences are issued by the NSW Police Force — Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate (SLED). You should expect a provider to display a valid state security licence number and to hold industry credentials such as MLAA, LGA or ASIAL membership, a Certificate III in Locksmithing, an ABN with GST registration and appropriate public liability insurance.
How do I get a quote from Prime Lock & Key?
