UniFi wow!!! Read on for my review of James and the UniFi system and see why I believe that the UniFi Protect app makes product selection an even easier choice. I recently had James from Metrolock Locksmiths in Melbourne install a full UniFi security camera system for my home, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From the first phone call to the final handover, James was professional, punctual, and genuinely one of the kindest and most decent tradespeople I’ve ever dealt with—he’s just a wonderful human being. He listened patiently, explained everything clearly without any hard sell, and even accommodated last-minute changes with a smile. The installation was spotless, and he left the place cleaner than he found it. The UniFi cameras themselves are excellent: premium build quality, crisp 4K footage, superb dynamic range, and reliable night vision. The bright blue LED ring around the lens is impossible to miss—even from the street at night it glows unmistakably, and it’s a huge visual deterrent. Neighbours have already commented that the house now “looks properly protected,” and I’ve noticed delivery drivers and random passers-by giving the cameras a very obvious wide berth. It’s subtle enough not to be garish, but so very obvious that any would-be intruder knows instantly they’re being recorded in 4K. On top of that, the entire UniFi Protect ecosystem is fully NDAA- and TAA-compliant—something Dahua simply cannot offer, with its ongoing security concerns and presence on the FCC Covered List. The real standout, though, is the UniFi Protect app: hands-down the most intuitive and user-friendly security camera app available. Clean layout, buttery-smooth timelines, instant live views, effortless smart detection zones, no subscription, and secure remote access that just works—my whole family picked it up in minutes. Dahua’s apps feel clunky and dated by comparison. Choosing NDAA-approved UniFi, complete with those highly visible blue rings, and having it installed by someone as skilled and genuinely lovely as James, has given me outstanding image quality, serious visible deterrence, and total peace of mind. If you’re in Melbourne and want a security system installed by a top-notch professional who’s also just a wonderful human being, look no further than James at Metrolock. Five stars isn’t enough!
