I have a a small walled courtyard in South Yarra that needed a transformation. Rob was not only up for the challenge he went above and beyond with enthusiasm and dedication. He came back on several occasions to collaborate ensuring the best pots and plants were chosen to achieve my vision. His communication was excellent keeping me informed at each stage. Nate was also great to work with polite and diligent. My courtyard is now a stylish low maintenance green space. I would highly recommend Rob and the Herbivore team.

Prompt, economical and job done to spec and on time. Very happy with the work, which was preparation for the sale of a home. Robert knew what was needed and got it done. Would recommend.

Rob and Nat were absolutely fantastic with my garden. Rob is so professional and listens to what you’re trying to achieve whilst being mindful of the health of your garden. Rob’s knowledge of the plants and trees within my garden was great, giving me great advice on how to keep it as low maintenance as possible. Rob and Nat were so polite and professional, couldn’t recommend them more. Can’t wait for summer in my garden now! Thank you both!

Landscaping costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.
Do landscapers charge call-out fees?
Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.
When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?
Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
