Luke was an absolute delight to work with. He came to our house several times and provided spot on advice to suit our home and lifestyle (we are not green thumbs!). He adapted the design as we provided feedback and offered new ideas. He was punctual, quick to respond and really enthusiastic about our garden. We felt that he really cared. Engaging Luke got us a better then expected outcome. Very appreciative and we highly recommend him!

Luke came highly recommended through a mutual friend. From our first conversation through to completion of work I found him to be professional, punctual, reliable and extremely friendly. My initial brief was taken onboard, he negotiated freely and made quick changes to fit within my budget and follow up requests. He offered friendly advice for colour schemes and additional work I could complete after the initial landscaping was completed, to fit my overall brief in due course. Luke is clearly passionate about his trade, I am thankful for the work he completed on my courtyard and have no hesitation at all in recommending him to friends or family, or in offering him an positive review.

I can highly recommend Luke Marshall as a skilled landscape design professional. Luke is friendly, knowledgeable, hard-working and fun. He really listened to our needs, provided clear advice and designed a beautiful native garden for us from concept to completion. Luke provided a long list of plants to choose from and he ensured everything was quoted, delivered and installed in a timely and professional manner. Luke made it all seem easy, he is passionate about his work and great to deal with. Thanks Luke!

Luke recently completed an entire overhaul of my courtyard garden. I am extremely happy with the end result. We had a number of consultations to ensure we got the right feel for the space. There were a number of established plants that I wanted to keep & these were incorporated into the design. The rest of the plants were removed (some rehomed into the OC garden & two large Elkhorn ferns found a home at Como). A few plants were repositioned to align with the design plan which saved quite a bit of money. The next stage was assessing the quality of the soil which proved to be in excellent condition, so part of the quote was adjusted to remove the manure & additional top soil. Plants were placed in position so that I could get an idea of the end result, then these were dug in. Mulching was next & the space was cleaned & tidied. The plants chosen were excellent quality & it's been well over a week and none have suffered with the Melbourne heat. Luke went above & beyond to ensure the project was completed on time and to my satisfaction. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Luke as he has a great passion for landscaping & design. I know I will have many years of spending time in my beautiful garden.

Luke is a highly talented and professional landscape designer with an excellent eye for detail. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. He did a wonderful job of developing and planting a sympathetic design for several large neglected at our Somers beach house, carefully considering the planting scheme to account for the coastal climate and sea-facing garden. He was professional and friendly and he went the extra mile to make sure everything was completed to perfection and on time. The whole family is really impressed with his work.

Landscaping costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.
Do landscapers charge call-out fees?
Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.
When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?
Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
