Daniel came in to help us with a significant clean up project on our backyard. The previous owner had created a garden that was well beyond our ability to manage and had started to create serious problems for us. Daniel was able to come up with a design that kept the elements of the garden we liked while simplifying everything for easy maintenance. He was able to manage the whole process end to end which took a lot of the stress out of project managing a big change like this. Daniel was also keen to reuse a lot of the existing materials around the garden such as the railway sleepers and old posts which has helped to keep some of the feel of the old garden while cutdown on waste and cost to us in needing new materials.

With a few delays due to weather, Daniel's communication was outstanding. I will not hesitate recommending Daniel to anyone needs a landscaping project completed. Thank You Daniel & Team.

It was great having Daniel and his team work on our garden improvements and we had an excellent relationship with them. A new fence and gate was constructed, a space for outside dining and a section where raised garden beds were installed. All this was completed in an efficient and timely manner. The work was of a high standard using quality materials and it came in under budget. We can highly recommend 'Broadforest Gardening' for any design and construction garden work.

After a year of unavoidable neglect, our large sloping garden - an ongoing project rooted in permaculture principles, landcare and food production was looking a bit grim. Dan was the perfect fit in helping us restore our garden, sharing the principles underpinning our space. He was very responsive to our requirements, while sharing practical ideas and suggestions. He and his team worked tirelessly to not just trim, weed, feed and mulch, but made necessary adjustments to edging and retaining, created natural features with onsite rocks and logs to accommodate our ongoing plans. We would be more than happy to have him back to help with targeted landscaping projects and maintenance.

Dan & Simon are amazing at what they do. I regularly have them do general garden maintenance at my property and the work is always of a very high quality. I had an area of rock and scrubby trees which looked horrible and served no purpose. Dan's ideas to transform the area into a beautiful lawn and paved living area for us to use were amazing, and we love the area so much now. Dan through his knowledge also helped us decide which plants to use to combat our local wildlife, and this has also been a great success. I thoroughly recommend their services for all your landscaping and outdoor needs.

Landscaping costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.
Do landscapers charge call-out fees?
Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.
When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?
Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
