Thomas and his team at On Country Landscaping were absolutely the right choice for our front garden makeover. From the swift, professional demolition through to the creative and thoughtful rebuild, the whole experience was a pleasure from start to finish. Thomas brings initiative, passion and genuine excitement to his work. He’s friendly, patient, an excellent listener, and a clear communicator throughout the process. He was always generous with his time, happy to adjust the plan as ideas evolved, and his attention to detail really stood out — tidy, fussy (in the best possible way), and a true perfectionist. We couldn’t be happier with the result and highly recommend Thomas and the On Country Landscaping team to anyone looking for a landscaper who truly cares about both the process and the outcome.

I would highly recommend Thomas to anyone. He has given great plant choice advice and mulched and planted out my tiered yard with native plants. I am very pleased with the result. He added a gravel path with large steppers and metal edging and has completed various other landscaping tasks for me. From his work ethic and attention to detail, you can tell he takes pride in doing a good job. I've always found him to be courteous, punctual, helpful and easy to liaise with and charges a fair rate. What more could you ask. Cheers Thomas, greatly appreciated. 😎👍

Landscaping costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.
Do landscapers charge call-out fees?
Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.
When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?
Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
