Joshua at Lawn Mate is a reliable, quick and efficient gardener that I was lucky enough to come across when I first came to Cairns. He is always on time and never lets me down. He is happy to schedule larger tasks that need a tip run and I think he is well priced and does a great job.

Josh has been maintaining our lawns for over a year. He is friendly, easy to contact and reliable - always showing up on time as agreed. He’s efficient and does a great job and even closes the gate when he leaves knowing we have dogs. Would happily recommend Josh to anyone looking for a regular, reliable service.

Josh has been looking after our yard in Kewarra beach for over a year now. He is reliable and always does a thorough job on the lawn and garden beds. He removes all the fallen fronds, and cuts back the trees when needed. He’s in and out quickly and quietly, and leaves the yard in an immaculate condition. I’ve always had great communication and friendly interactions, and he’s able to fit us in last minute if I ever need anything outside of our regular fortnightly maintenance. Can’t rate him high enough, and would recommend him to everyone on the northern beaches.

Josh recently did a large job for our property which had over grown a lot. This was a big job which Josh made sure our wishes were met in keeping the integrity of our tropical plants to flourish again. Communication was great and have booked Josh for future work to maintain our garden. Highly recommend!

Landscaping costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.
Do landscapers charge call-out fees?
Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.
When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?
Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
