Having photographed many homes in Newcastle and surrounds designed by Megan, I can say her eye for detail and the care she puts into her designs is truly exceptional. Each garden she creates feels like an extension of the home—thoughtful, balanced, and deeply considered. Her plant choices not only suit the aesthetic of the property but also thrive in their environment, showing her knowledge of both design and horticulture. Working with Megan from Dream Design Scapes was a pleasure. She was very generous with her time to understand how we wanted to use our backyard which was a blank canvass. She explained her thinking on the placement of plants, seating areas and our vegetable garden to maximise the space and create a garden that was lovely to look at and also to be in. The front yard of the home we purchased was dominated by a minimalist garden, supported and framed by a failing retaining wall which hid the house from the street. The wall, which had no fill to support it, nor drainage to get the water away, limited use of the drive way, and was actually higher than the footpath. With the house hidden by the wall, it had little kerb appeal. Creatively, our brief to Megan was to re-design the front garden so as to enhance the look of the property from the street, including the suggestion of suitable plantings for the resulting garden and in doing so, address the problems noted above. Following an on-sight visit, Megan prepared a design for our consideration and was available to us for follow-up questions and the like. What can we say about the result except ‘magical Megan’. As you can see in the photos, the result is stunning. Megan literally thought outside the box and came up with a design that really enhanced the house’s street presence. The subtly tiered garden garden moves the eye around and enables the house to be present to the street. The idea of the off-set footpath brought artistry to an otherwise functional approach to the house and is a real highlight. Megan provided detailed planting suggestions as well as recommendations for lighting and garden art. These suggestions saved costs and effort during the build. We couldn’t be more please with the result. A hidden bonus to the project was the feel of the garden from inside the house. We hadn’t realised how oppressive the little wall was, nor how it detracted from the use of our front room. The new design has opened up the feel of the front room, making it now, a nice place to be. The build was undertaken seamlessly by Norcon Earthworks, Bolwarra. Our lighting needs were addressed by Alstra Lighting, Thornton and installed by Chris from Kool Concepts Electrical

Megan has been awesome at designing my landscape areas. She has been creative with great ideas and concepts as well as drawing attention to issues in my approved plans. This enabled me to sort out so many things that could have created problems in the building stages.
