My starting point for our search for a landscaper was the hipages app. I selected three companies but only one responded immediately … Backbone Landscapes P/L … and Aiden in particular. Aiden was keen to sight the works needed and, given we live in Sydney and the new fence and retaining wall needed were on the Central Coast, I was pleased to find Aiden flexible with our meeting time. Unlike the other two tradespeople, Aiden was always punctual and available. He quickly became the high bar that others never came close to. Our works were initially a replacement of retaining wall and fence on a boundary line. Supported by a carport attached to a house, it was clear from the start that the carport had to go. The retaining wall half-logs were collapsing on both sides of the boundary and the simple solution was to pull it all down and start again. All very easy until the neighbour came into the mix. She didn’t want it removed, she didn’t want to pay anything and she didn’t want any encroachment of her property. I mention this because this is when Aiden seemed to shine. I’ve always said “There’s no such thing as a problem, only solutions” and Aiden personifies this credo. When we met with him again and explained the dilemma he was not only considered in his resolution of the issues but he found a way to deal with the failing retaining wall as well. Aiden and his team of five men carried out remedial work on the existing collapsed logs, even as they worked on the new sleeper wall and mounted fence that would sit in front of the old. Anyone could have simply erected a new fence to hide the ongoing flooding from the adjacent property but Aiden’s solution was both repairing and clever, with a great visual finished result. To say we are pleased with the outcome would be an understatement. The new Colorbond fence mounted on the sleeper retaining wall is simple in design but so much more in its execution. No one can see the drama it hides. Our experience from start to finish has been exceptional. I should make mention too that Aiden’s team of hard workers is the happiest group of tradies I’ve seen in a long time. They are clearly lead by a focussed and caring person in Aiden. Without reservation we would recommend Aiden and the team at Backbone Landscapes. We certainly wouldn’t look elsewhere when we need more work done in the future.

Aiden and his team did such an amazing job on our yard. Taking it from a construction site to a proper backyard. Aiden and his team were so helpful, friendly and skilled and took the time to listen, talk through ideas and give great advice. We really loved working with them and having them craft our backyard, removing dirt, installing AG lines, leveling the yard and laying grass. We can't wait for phase two with them.

We were in the process of building and hired Aiden and his team to complete our landscaping. They did an incredible job!
