We recently had pool stairs added to our pool and Alex and his team did a great job. Alex was easy to deal with and communicated well during the process, and the regular looks great.

Alex and his team are true professionals who provide multiple solutions before and during the build while considering budget to ensure their clients are happy. A-grade completed our 8m x 4m pool renovation including demo, coping, water line tiling, paving, retaining wall, drainage and fencing in just 3 weeks. Alex’s project management skills to organise all materials made life very easy. Would highly recommend.

We had a 34 year old pebblecrete lined pool which was tired, outdated and in need of renovation and repair, together with the terrace overlooking it from the house. After receiving numerous quotes from pool specialists, we chose Alex from A Grade Pools and we’re very glad we did. Alex and his friendly, polite and hardworking team gave us the benefit of their ideas and wide experience gained over many years in transforming the whole area for us. Performing such a major renovation was naturally a messy and noisy job, not helped by the heavy rain in the early stages, but the team did everything possible to minimise any inconvenience to us, and cleared up each day taking all the rubbish away as it was created. After removing a dated wooden deck and pool edge rock feature, Alex removed a small garden bed feature and old tree stumps that encroached on the pool. He then constructed a new reinforced concrete slab which he tied to the pool shell to form the extended terrace and pool surround, opening up the whole area. A new fence was constructed adding privacy to the pool area, before laying limestone paving around the pool and up to the house which has worked extremely well. The pool itself was then stripped of its old pebblecrete lining back to the shell, and subsequently re-lined with new beadcrete, waterline tiles, and in-pool lighting, totally transforming and modernising the entire area. Our experience with Alex was that nothing was too much trouble, his focus was on total customer satisfaction which he certainly delivered. Our pool area now looks fabulous and we’re delighted with the results. We’re most grateful to Alex whose communication skills excelled by keeping us in touch with the daily program of works, a true professional. Thank you, Alex, for the care and hard work by you and your team to produce a sparkling new pool and a stunning entertaining area for us to enjoy for years to come.

Landscaping costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.
Do landscapers charge call-out fees?
Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.
When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?
Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
