This is a hard review to write. I'm going to start by saying Rhys is a good guy, clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about the business of insulation. He's more than happy to spend the time going into the technical details. I undertook a complete reno of a house built in 1996 which unfortunately, whilst it had insulation in the roof, the batts never made it out of their bags! Nor was their any insulation in the internal walls. The latter was solved with blow-in filler - great job, no issues. For the former, I selected R6 insulation which was supposed to be laid except where height meant R3 would be used (eg close to the eaves). Job completed and all good, or so I thought, until we made the decision to rip out the ceilings on the other half of the house as well. This revealed a half-arsed incomplete job. I sent the photos to Rhys. To be clear, it wasn't Rhys that actually laid this but his team and he was on site within an hour to fix it properly. Nevertheless, this is not the standard of work that you would hope or expect to find, hence the somewhat conflicted Google review rating. UPDATE: 3 months later and I have to say the insulation is absolutely fantastic. Cool on hot days and retains the warmth when it's cold. Have updated my rating accordingly. Rhys knows his stuff!

Rhys and the team came through and installed in-ceiling R3.5 batts and underfloor insulation for our little cottage - works were completed professionally, on time (they worked through a storm) and to a high degree. Recommend using Rhys and his team if you need your home insulated.

I called Rhys to look at insulation solutions for an office in the house. But we had such a good chat, that I forgot about the office... instead he gave me a great idea to turn our single car garage into a sound studio! With credentials including fitting out ACDCs studio in Sydney, I couldn't go wrong. Thorough explanation of sound proofing options and it wasn't long before the team came out and fitted us out... great job and very professional. Not that I"ll ever crank up to ACDC levels, but I can dream can't I?

Frequently asked questions

How much do insulation installers typically charge?
Costs for insulation installers vary depending on the job type, material R‑value, total area and how difficult access is. Jobs that involve removing old insulation, contamination or specialist remediation are typically more labour-intensive. The live pricing shown on this page gives estimates for specific job types and locations.
Do insulation installers charge call-out fees?
Many insulation installers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, which commonly covers travel time and the initial inspection. This fee is usually separate from hourly labour and materials costs. After-hours or regional visits may attract higher rates or different multipliers, so check the live quote details.
When do insulation installers need a licence?
In some states and territories insulation installers must hold state building registration or a contractor licence for certain types of work. Where registration is required, providers will often display their state registration or contractor licence on quotes. Even where formal registration isn't needed, look for industry credentials such as EEC Certified Insulation Installer or membership of Insulation Australasia.
