Suzan Quigg Landscape Design

As an experienced gardener, I had never thought of contacting a landscape designer. However I was completely daunted by a difficult site that sloped down from the street so contacted Suzan regarding my cottage restoration in Yungaburra. I am so glad that I did. Suzan was so friendly and helpful and quickly designed a plan that not only met my garden needs but also solved the water issues and enhanced the entry to the house. She also introduced me to Rick Tunsted who was able to build the traditional walls in the plan that are so much in keeping with the character and age of the house. We engaged Suzan Quigg to develop a complete landscape design for a new house build in Agnes Water central Queensland. Being a steep ocean front site in an eco estate the project was particularly demanding. Some of the restrictions included only plants endemic to the estate were permitted, no trees were permitted to be removed, fencing was not permitted, retaining walls had to be below 1 metre, driveway and pathways had to be minimal, sprinkling was not permitted and disturbance of the ground was discouraged. On top of this, being by ocean the site was subject to high salt, was a high termite activity area, a BAL 29 bushfire site, C3 cyclone zone, and an earthquake zone. Following our design brief Suzan worked through all the challenges the restrictions and difficulties of the site presented, including unadvised requirement changes by the body corporate part way through, to produced a considered design, in line with our brief, that we were delighted with. Her passion for gardens is infectious and her knowledge of plants considerable. We are now looking forward to again working with Suzan to design the gardens for our next project in the Whitsundays.
