Can’t recommend Ben highly enough. He’s a bit of a perfectionist and also aims to get the job done quickly, which is exactly what you want from a carpenter. He installed my kitchen and dealt with walls and floors that weren’t square or even, yet somehow managed to make the end result look really flush and neat. He also removed doors and windows and put walls in making our renos look fantastic. You won’t regret hiring him. (Photos before and after)

Ben fixed my ceilings and roof after storm damage. He did an excellent job. He's very obliging and helpful. He goes above and beyond. I will definitely use him again in the future.

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
