Jamie did an amazing job during our recent renovations. We had a very quick turnaround of just one week to update a unit we’d purchased to rent out, and he handled everything seamlessly. He completed projects like building built-in wardrobes and installing shelving units, as well as all the smaller details- from door trims to clotheslines. Everything was finished to a very high standard. Jamie was also incredibly tidy throughout the process, with no rubbish or tools left lying around, and he was very considerate when working alongside other trades onsite. He made the entire renovation process smooth and stress-free. Will definitely hire him for our future projects!

We engaged Jamie recently to install pigeon proof netting on our solar panel arrangement for our double storey townhouse due to a nesting infestation by those winged rats. They were causing issues with the functionality of the solar system and we needed help. Jamie is a neighbour and was aware of the issue and provided us a full explanation of his plan, equipment required, timelines and cost. We engaged him and were delighted with the results. No more nesting, clean and completely functional solar panels and the entire job was done in a day and also under the quoted price. Very pleased and will have no hesitation is recommending Jamie to anyone and we certainly have plans to engage him in the future.

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
