To whom it may concern, Ivana and I (John) would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Greg and Kirk for their exceptional work in bringing our dream home to life in our little piece of paradise. The outcome has surpassed our expectations, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the quality of workmanship and the professionalism displayed throughout the entire redevelopment process. From the outset, we shared our vision with Greg and Kirk, and they embarked on this journey with unwavering dedication. Despite the occasional challenges we presented them with, they never once said it couldn't be done. In fact, whenever difficulties arose, both Greg and Kirk took the time to sit down with us, meticulously work through the issues, and present us with options that best suited our needs. Their hard work, unsupervised diligence, and professionalism have left a lasting impression on us. The project was delivered on time, and while the budget was exceeded, this was primarily due to the additional changes and requests we made along the way. We understand that they didn't repaint the Mona Lisa, but for Ivana and me, they have truly created our own piece of heaven in paradise. We cannot thank Greg and Kirk enough for their dedication and the incredible work they have done. Their efforts have made our dream home a reality, and we are forever grateful.

Greg is amazing. Such attention to detail. As well as helping my father with his roof, he also fixed a small accidental chip in our deck and matched the wood perfectly. I highly recommend his work. He’s also a great guy.

We couldn’t have been happier with Greg’s floor finishing. Greg’s work was detailed and that of a fine woodworking craftsman. He took the time needed on his hands and knees achieving perfection.

Greg is hard-working, efficient and reliable. I've used him for several jobs and his work has been outstanding and at a fair price. I highly recommend him.

Greg was fantastic to deal with. We met him once and knew straight away that he would be the contractor we would use. We were back in Adelaide when the renovation was taking place and Greg kept us up to date with how everything was progressing. The result we were very pleased with. We would not hesitate in recommending Greg. Process was seamless from start to finish.

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
How do I get a quote from IGL Home Improvements?
