Ben did a fantastic job repairing a section of rotten weatherboards on the upper wall of our house. Not an easy job given it required working at roof height. He replaced the damaged boards neatly, the joins and corner details are clean, and the whole thing was primed and ready for paint. Highly recommend Ben for any carpentry work. Will definitely be using him again.

Ben from Ben Ward Carpentry is an absolute legend.I couldn’t speak more highly about him and the service he provided. Upon engaging Ben for a project In Sumner Park, He did everything he said he would do in a timely manner and gave me some good ideas about the build that I hadn’t thought of. Ben knows his craft & I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone looking for a sound, honest experienced Carpenter. 5 stars 🌟

Ben was really easy to communicate with and did an amazing job on our deck which needed brand new stairs and a lot of work replacing rotten parts around the deck. Would easily recommend Ben to anyone!

Ben removed a wall for me to create an open plan living space before renovating my kitchen. He did an amazing job and is such a lovely young man. He went to great efforts to keep the worksite clean and left my house in the same state it was in when he arrived. Ben is a true professional. His price was very reasonable also.

Carpentry costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
