Ged and his team at Taloolah joinery did an amazing job at our house. The attention to detail was outstanding and they took on the challenge of using the old timbers from the demolition. The job was quite extensive and Ged was able to utilise our old timbers in all the rooms done. Ged and his team were happy to take on a bespoke pantry which other companies declined. We highly recommend Taloolah joinery for their professionalism and interest to take on something outside the square and use reclaimed materials Happy customers,

Carpentry costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
Is Taloolah Joinery licensed?
Yes. Taloolah Joinery currently shows an active trade licence on SureQuote.
