Jims work is exceptional, he was brilliant from the first day we meet him to the end of his work. Might I add I just kept on giving him work to do. He quoted to rebuild out front deck and ended up doing front deck, back deck and stairs, hung shelves, repaired our side gate, hung new outside blinds on the front balcony and put a new door on a bedroom. Also looking to have more work done. If you want a professional that knows how to work with timber then he is your man.

Jim replaced my front door with a much wider one. Lovely job and completed promptly, plus a thorough clean up at end of work.

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
