Alex and the team were very helpful. Easy to deal with, and communicated with us thoroughly throughout the process. Would recommend to anyone looking for building services.

Alex did a top quality, highly professional job at a great price on a structural post on my house after another person stuffed it up with mind-boggling incompetence. Alex was also communicative and very patient with me being totally stressed from the first person's horror show. I can't thank him enough.

I engaged Alex for some work on our deck, and he did such an awesome job that I got him back for several other projects, including a roof and outdoor sauna. Not only is his craftsmanship and professionalism top-notch, but he has great character and integrity, and engaged and showed a lot of patience with my two young boys both under 7 years old, who asked alllllllot of questions. To me it showed heart and care in what he does and who he does it for. I have and would again, highly recommend Alex for any future project.

Alex put together and lead a gun crew on a major renovation on my home. Alex is super professional and a great communicator. He’s owner builder friendly, has a great energy and a straight shooter. His estimation of the duration of the build was pretty much bang on.

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
How do I get a quote from Bennett Carpentry?
