Love, Love, Love my new bathroom by GIA! Outstanding service from the moment I walked through the door. Olivia didn’t miss a beat with accomodating everything that I asked for while ensuring that the layout and design was optimal and that it fit within my budget, then Brendan made the magic happen. All of the staff and trades were very professional. Brendan ensured that the project ran smoothly and on time with minimal disruption to our family. The whole team were very responsive to any questions that I had before, during and even after the project was finished. I’m glad I trusted and invested in GIA.

Exceptional Quality and Professional Finish I recently engaged GIA for an extensive apartment renovation, and I am thrilled with the final result. From the initial design phase through to completion, the team demonstrated a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail. Design and Management The process began with Alicia in the design stage. She was instrumental in helping shape the vision for the space, ensuring the layout was both functional and aesthetic. On-site, the project was led by Brendan, who skilfully managed the day-to-day operations of the build. Quality of Work: The standout feature of GIA is undoubtedly the quality of their work. The craftsmanship across all trades is excellent. Even with a project of this scale and complexity, the finish is polished and professional. It is clear they take great pride in the physical output of their projects. Problem Solving: Like any major renovation, a few minor issues were identified along the way. I was particularly impressed with how GIA handled these; any concerns I raised were rectified very promptly and without hassle. Their commitment to ensuring the client is happy with the end product is evident. Final Verdict: While our working styles differed at times, I cannot fault the dedication to quality and the professional standard of the renovation. If you are looking for a firm that delivers a high-end finish and stands by their work, I would highly recommend GIA. Anita

GIA did a great job designing, managing and executing our new bathroom, kitchen laundry and living areas. The process was structured and orderly, we were in touch with our wonderful project manager Jared, at every step along the way. Costings and payments were transparent and the schedule was distributed to reflect the work completed. The quality of the trades was excellent and variations were readily accommodated. the end result is beautiful, and we will have no hesitation in plan ning future renovations with the company!

GIA undertook the renovation of our Edwardian home in 2023–2024, focusing on the bathroom, laundry, lounge, and three bedrooms. The project transformed a tired, old house into a refreshed home that is not only beautiful and functional but also more sustainable, all without expanding the original footprint. Given the house is over 100 years old, significant work was required. Floors, walls, a chimney, and plaster were removed, leading to several project changes (variations). These were communicated to us clearly and promptly for approval. The renovation was a complex undertaking, involving multiple trades to bring the home up to code while incorporating energy and water-efficient upgrades such as triple-glazed windows, efficient appliances, a heat pump hot water system, improved insulation, recycled flooring, solar panels, batteries, water tanks, and rainwater systems for the toilet. Throughout the project, the GIA team was professional, friendly, and communicative. They delivered exceptional results, bringing our designers’ vision (Brave New Eco) to life. The quality of workmanship was outstanding, particularly from Andrew and Bekhim (the carpenters) and Shivani (the painter,) as well as the cabinet makers, tilers (Sasha), plumbers, electricians, flooring experts, and caulkers. GIA ensured that all trades were skilled, committed to high standards and respectful of our garden. While the overall experience was excellent, there were some challenges. An issue with the insulation contractor required remediation, and we hope GIA no longer works with that particular company. However, when problems arose, GIA responded promptly and communicated openly to resolve them. One notable area for improvement was project management. We felt that if Sam, the construction manager, had overseen the project from the beginning, this would have been a 5-star review. The original site manager lacked attention to detail, which required greater involvement from our architect and us during site reviews and documentation than we would have liked. Thankfully, when Sam stepped in, his exceptional project management, communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail turned the project around. We cannot recommend him highly enough. Summary: Pros: • A single site manager (Sam) ensured accountability and project success. • Strong design orientation and attention to quality finishes. • High-quality tradespeople. • Clear, proactive communication. • Responsive and prompt resolution of issues. Cons: • Some trades and staff did not meet expected standards; Meeting the site supervisor beforehand and conducting regular stage reviews is recommended. • Limited sustainability expertise. If you want an environmentally responsible design consider an expert in this field. Overall, we recommend GIA for anyone seeking a reliable and skilled renovation team. If you’d like to discuss our experience in detail before selecting GIA, we’d be happy to chat.

We had our kitchen, bathroom and Laundry renovated by GIA and are very happy with the outcome. They are very professional, provided clear communications at every step, detailed design documentation, accurate schedule and a very professional and safe approach to the work. The project was done within a very reasonable timeframe and budget and the areas all function and look great. The neighbours were also very happy with minimal disruption during the works.

Cabinet Making costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do cabinet makers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on the job type, size, materials and complexity, and whether on‑site fabrication or after‑hours attendance is required. The prices shown on this page update live and reflect typical call‑out and labour charges plus materials. Simple repairs are generally much less than full kitchen or built‑in installations.
Do cabinet makers charge call-out fees?
Many cabinet makers charge a call‑out fee to attend and assess a job, which is usually separate from labour and materials. After‑hours or emergency attendance is often charged at a higher rate. Check each quote to see whether a call‑out fee is included or listed separately.
When do cabinet makers need a licence?
Some states expect cabinet makers to hold contractor registration or a valid licence, and providers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA commonly display state contractor registration on quotes and advertising. Requirements vary by state, so check your local state regulator for the exact rules that apply to your job.
