I have built three project homes before, but this time I wanted to build with a “real” builder. I wanted a builder who understands our individual needs and who is not building 20+ homes at one time. After much online research I found Norm Wales. Now I know it’s hard these days to trust written reviews but I could not find one bad review. After our initial meeting with Norm and the team, I could understand why. They truly understood what we wanted and they cared that the Home we built was exactly what we were dreaming of. We were very excited to get started but unfortunately like many, our land took almost a year longer than we were told, but Norm and the team were completely understanding and despite us having all our choices and plans in place, they managed to hold true with our costings. Once we started building, it didn’t matter who we spoke to whether it was Tradies, suppliers or locals, we got the same comments on Norm….”Oh, he has an excellent reputation and if you build with Norm, you will not have any problems”. Well, during our build, Norm was fantastic. He really seemed to care that we got the Home we wanted down to the last stud. Not only that, but if I asked a stupid question, he treated me with respect and gave me a thorough explanation to put my mind at ease. Don’t get me wrong, no Home is absolutely perfect and you will always find something you wish you had done differently but this Home is as close to perfect as we could’ve hoped. Norm, Charlotte and Christine have been amazing with us from day one. Sadly due to family issues on the Gold coast we have to move away from the area. The team have been very supportive through this difficult time and we appreciate all their help from day one. They are not just professional, they listen, are compassionate and as helpful as is possible in any way possible. Saying goodbye to them today was like saying goodbye to family. We wish them every success in the future.

My wife and I chose to build with Norm Wales after performing a screening process on a large amount of local builders. We were planning to travel Australia with our children while having our property built and required a builder with excellent communication and professionalism to help us achieve this. From the outset the process with Norm was more flexible, the initial costs associated with designing the property were all part of developing council ready plans and if we decided to look around and get quotes elsewhere the plans would be signed over to us, this is something rare to find between builders. Norm was always available on the phone or would promptly call back and we never felt awkward asking questions, he would always give you the time you needed. Norm's team in the office are exceptional, very prompt and thorough. All the local suppliers had very positive things to say about Norm, from his forward planning to his expected finishes. This was echoed by a retired council certifier I happened to meet who further increased my confidence prior to our trip. Norm and his draftsman Peter had no problem telling us strongly if we needed to make a change to our draft plan. This can be a challenge but it worked out for the best, they have your interests at heart while really trying to make the space as functional and livable as possible. Being moved in to the property now we have had the time to appreciate the quality of finishes and are absolutely loving our new home. Paying for quality in a new home is worth it and we would highly recommend Norm Wales Constructions to anybody especially if you are new to the process of constructing a new home.

We commenced our journey with Norm Wales Constructions in August 2023 as we wished the building project to commence in July 2024. The project, including demolishing and removing the old structure commenced in July 2024 and in April 2025 we took possession of our new home As we were living in Darwin until the house was built, all early meetings and discussions were conducted remotely, first by telephone and later by Zoom. We found Norm to be a very clear communicator and this led to a smooth process from start to finish. Clear timelines were established for each stage of the build and Norm and his team adhered to each timeline and deadline. Norm was very professional in every aspect and always paid attention to every detail. He was also always helpful. The team deserves special mention as Charlotte, Chantelle, Peter and Michelle were always friendly, helpful, timely and professional. They made the process easy to navigate. Our beautiful house was built exactly on schedule and to budget. We are delighted to be living in such a lovely house and would have no hesitation whatsoever recommending Norm Wales Constructions to others.

When looking to build our new home, we spoke to several builders but after speaking with Norm Wales Constructions, we were convinced this was the company that would deliver us a quality home on schedule. Norm told us the build would be scheduled and run like clockwork, and that is exactly what we experienced. Our interactions with various trades and suppliers confirmed that this is how Norm Wales operates every single time. We had a particular design and look were were after and are delighted that our final house matches our dream. We were fortunate to live close to the build site and can confirm that Norm was frequently onsite, checking the progress and quality of every stage of the build. Norm told us once that he keeps extra ice in bags in his fridge in case guests come over and his fridge dispenser runs out. That's the type of man you want building your home. We have undertaken a new house build in one of the most difficult periods in history, which includes the COVID 19 pandemic, an associated rise in demand for builders in many areas and frequent material cost increases. Having built six years ago, with a large volume builder on the Sunshine Coast, we found it a refreshing experience to deal with Norm Wales Constructions, where service is on a more personalised level. When we walked into Norm’s office in January 2021 to discuss a potential project at Moore Park Beach there was an immediate interest in what we wanted to build and our desired timeframe for completion. The team was always friendly and welcoming throughout our build, despite us sometimes showing our stress. Things that left a big impression on us included: • Weekly email updates on building progress; • Dealing directly with the company’s owners; • Willingness of the builder to answer any concerns promptly; • A team of approachable and competent trades-people; • Flexibility in project management to ensure completion was not delayed, with handover occurring eight days prior to the anticipated date.
