I can't speak highly enough of Surfcoast Balustrading! Jase and his team were the epitome of professional. Their product is incredible, their craftsmanship impeccable, and importantly, they got the job done when they said they would! The team was friendly, and an absolute pleasure to have on our property, where they also had two active boys, and a dog to navigate! I can't recommend them enough.

When I recently turned up at SurfCoast Ballustrading to enquire about a small job I needed undertaken, I discovered Angels work there. I required an external handrail for some decking steps for my elderly husband and had not had any success with a similar company or even a response to my calls.. This was not a big job so they are often not prioritised. Jason and Dan very kindly took on the job at a very busy time of the year prior to Christmas and had the basic rail installed by Adam. In the new year the finishing touches will be undertaken, with safety wires inserted and the handrail powder coated. I am a very appreciative and happy customer.

Frequently asked questions

How much do balustrading installers typically charge?

Costs for balustrading work vary widely depending on the material chosen, the length and height of the balustrade, and how difficult the site is to access. Repairs are generally simpler than full replacements, while jobs that require engineered fixing, glass toughening or compliance certification are often more involved. This page shows live pricing to help you compare options for your specific job.

Do balustrading installers charge call-out fees?

Many balustrading installers charge a call-out or minimum attendance fee to assess the job and take measurements. This fee is usually separate from labour, materials and any after‑hours rates, which may apply for urgent or out-of-hours work. It's worth confirming whether a call-out fee applies when requesting quotes.

When do balustrading installers need a licence?

Registration or a contractor licence is often required when work affects structural elements, involves high-level glass or fall-protection, or when state thresholds for value or scope are met. Your installer should display a valid state building or contractor licence where the scope triggers apply, and be able to demonstrate compliance with the National Construction Code balustrade and barrier rules. Check with your state building regulator (for example, NSW Fair Trading or the Victorian Building Authority) if you're unsure about local thresholds.
