I was really impressed with Sam's knowledge and sensitivity with managing our large Yellow Gum that had grown out low over our neighbour's roof. He removed the large limbs of concern with minimal chainsaw use, and moved around the tree with a hand saw pruning to remove other deadwood. He tidied up a stand of Gungurru in our front and back yards and trimmed another Yellow Gum from the roof line out front. Everything was swept up and removed from our property and our trees look all the better for his attentions. If you are looking for an arborist that respects your tree assets, Tree Response is who you want. Thank you Sam and Jasper! It was a pleasure to have you here.

We had a great experience with Tree Response. A couple of the trees, that they removed, were in tricky positions between ours and our neighbour’s properties. They were expertly dropped with no damage to either houses. They were friendly, prompt and professional. Will definitely have them back for other tree jobs that need to be done.

Thanks to Sam, Angus and Oscar who did a great job pruning, shaping, placing possum guards and treating the soil for our Eucalyptus tree.

Very professional, quick response. Had all of the skills and tools and cleaned up well. Price was reasonable for a risky activity.

Arborist costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do arborists typically charge?
Arborist costs vary widely depending on the type and scale of work. Factors such as tree size and species, site access, whether removal and stump grinding are needed, required equipment and disposal all affect the total. Most quotes separate a call-out component from labour and materials, and after-hours or emergency jobs generally attract higher rates. The live pricing on this page shows current estimates for different job types.
Do arborists charge call-out fees?
Many arborists charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, which is usually separate from labour and materials. That fee typically covers travel and the initial site inspection, and smaller or remote jobs may be subject to a minimum charge. It's worth confirming whether a call-out fee is included in any quote you receive.
When do arborists need a licence?
Arborists often need registration or specific contractor credentials for higher-risk, large-scale or regulated tree work. Where the scope overlaps with regulated building or contractor work, providers should hold a valid state contractor or builder credential and comply with local council permit requirements for protected trees. For higher‑risk tasks, look for evidence of public liability insurance, documented work-at-heights controls and SWMS.
Does Tree Response have a verified ABN?
