Michael and his team did an excellent job and I’ve never had tradesmen clean up as immaculately as they did.

Great job and completed as agreed with habitats cut in the remaining trunk for additional bird life to nest etc. Very pleased with the outcome.

I couldn’t be happier with the work done by the team at Treemate. We have a beautiful, old gum tree in front of our house, and its canopy stretches over several neighboring homes. With our neighbours' consent, the team managed access to multiple properties to trim the tree, completing the job within the promised timeframe and leaving everything spotless. Many of our neighbours have since commented on how fantastic the tree looks. It's a beloved icon of our street, and everyone feels protective of it, so we're all thrilled with the result.

Excellent job maintenance pruning my River Red Gum significant tree, and good interaction with affected neighbours.

We needed 2 very large trees removed (30+metres high). They were in the back yard (we are on a small property in the Adelaide Hills) and dropping large branches from time to time. We contacted Treemate, among others, and found Michael to be very responsive, no nonsense and fair priced to deal with. The communication around what was needed, timing and so on was clear and pro-active. The team arrived spot on time and worked solidly throughout the day until the job was completed. During the day they checked to make sure things were proceeding as we would liked and the site was left as clear and tidy as one could expect after a major job like this. We were really impressed about the way the trees were taken down. We wanted to save a tree that was situated next to the ones being removed and it now stands there proud and clear; how they managed that was amazing. We will certainly be contacting Michael in the future for any other tree removal/pruning jobs and have no hesitation if recommending his company Treemate to others.

Arborist costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do arborists typically charge?
Arborist costs vary widely depending on the type and scale of work. Factors such as tree size and species, site access, whether removal and stump grinding are needed, required equipment and disposal all affect the total. Most quotes separate a call-out component from labour and materials, and after-hours or emergency jobs generally attract higher rates. The live pricing on this page shows current estimates for different job types.
Do arborists charge call-out fees?
Many arborists charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, which is usually separate from labour and materials. That fee typically covers travel and the initial site inspection, and smaller or remote jobs may be subject to a minimum charge. It's worth confirming whether a call-out fee is included in any quote you receive.
When do arborists need a licence?
Arborists often need registration or specific contractor credentials for higher-risk, large-scale or regulated tree work. Where the scope overlaps with regulated building or contractor work, providers should hold a valid state contractor or builder credential and comply with local council permit requirements for protected trees. For higher‑risk tasks, look for evidence of public liability insurance, documented work-at-heights controls and SWMS.
Does Treemate have a verified ABN?
Yes. Treemate has completed ABN verification on SureQuote.
