Michael’s tree services handled the removal of a problematic African Tulip Tree, growing close to our neighbour’s property and overhead power lines. Their team were incredibly professional and brought the tree down without any issue. I would not hesitate recommending Michael’s Tree Services.

As a person who doesn’t usually write reviews, I found it absolutely necessary to write one for MTS. They have been looking after our trees for over 10 years now and without failure every time the level of expertise and knowledge, professionalism, and simple common courtesy is outstanding. We will never use anyone else and I could not recommend this team of talented, experienced and very professional people any higher. The entire process from quote to completion is handled in a professional, efficient, and timely manner. None of our plants or lawn was damaged in the process and cleanup and completion was so quick. I couldn’t be happier with the results and the job that they did. We are very happy loyal customers indeed 😊 Thanks for all your hard work!! Tree Lopping Legends 👍

I recently had the Michael’s team around to give my over grown hedge a hard cut back. There communication is great and I would recommend them. They are a small business who provided advice on the best approach for the job. The team were on time, efficient and professional. I will have them back again. 10/10 from us!

Arborist costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do arborists typically charge?
Arborist costs vary widely depending on the type and scale of work. Factors such as tree size and species, site access, whether removal and stump grinding are needed, required equipment and disposal all affect the total. Most quotes separate a call-out component from labour and materials, and after-hours or emergency jobs generally attract higher rates. The live pricing on this page shows current estimates for different job types.
Do arborists charge call-out fees?
Many arborists charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, which is usually separate from labour and materials. That fee typically covers travel and the initial site inspection, and smaller or remote jobs may be subject to a minimum charge. It's worth confirming whether a call-out fee is included in any quote you receive.
When do arborists need a licence?
Arborists often need registration or specific contractor credentials for higher-risk, large-scale or regulated tree work. Where the scope overlaps with regulated building or contractor work, providers should hold a valid state contractor or builder credential and comply with local council permit requirements for protected trees. For higher‑risk tasks, look for evidence of public liability insurance, documented work-at-heights controls and SWMS.
How do I get a quote from Michaels Tree Services?
